STORY & WORK
Renaud Conti is a French independent filmmaker based in Provence, South of France.
He started his artistic career as a music composer, a music producer as well as a studio and stage musician, while also studying aside 35mm and medium format film photography.
In 2016, he used for the first time an old cheap digital camera, and combined his sound and photography skills to make his first amateur film, a documentary about permaculture called “ l’Abondance Végétale “.
This 19-minute film had a great impact in the world of alternative agriculture in different versions (French, English, Russian, Dutch) with a total of over 2 million views on YouTube.
He had finally found his way of expression, Filmmaking !
PROJECTS
Since then, he has been working with many brands on a variety of projects, including corporate, fashion, travel and short documentaries with an attraction to documentary portraits.
In 2024 his short documentary portrait for the artisan ceramist Inès Ciccone, commissioned by the Provence Verte Agglomeration and the Chamber of Arts and Crafts of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, was awarded and selected in numerous international festivals.

HUMAN-ORIENTED AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION IN PROVENCE
“I am originally from the Var department, in Provence, and I am passionate about the work of artisans, farmers and in general, all creators who are inspired by their territory and also contribute to making it vibrate by giving it an imprint cultural.
This documentary portrait is part of an audiovisual project of a production of ten films portraits of art craftsmen initiated and financed by “the Provence Verte Agglomeration” in partnership with “La Chambre des Métiers and of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Crafts”.
These organizations gave me carte blanche to produce these different documentary portraits with my own approach and aesthetic vision of video production. "
AESTHETIC
"Concerning the aesthetic approach to the film's photography, I wanted to obtain a rather "soft" image in the spirit of certain Italian paintings from the Renaissance period which, in my opinion, perfectly highlight territories like Provence or Tuscany .
I therefore worked as much as possible with natural light and I also used a cinema camera and cinema optics in order to contribute to this softness in the image, to counterbalance the often too digital and cold of modern cameras."
THE SOUND WORLD OF THE FILM
"When making this documentary portrait film, as usual, I gave a lot of importance to the sound universe, to be able to bring an intimate and immersive atmosphere to this audiovisual production.
I approached the work of light and sound in the film with one main idea in mind: to make people feel as closely as possible the textures and sensations of the world of pottery (the spinning sandstone, the water, etc.)."

"The goal for me through this film is not simply to “show” things,
but rather to make people “feel” things, and to place humans at the center of the story.
Filming the film with Inès Ciccone was a real joy, teamwork
and a great human encounter.”
